The Myth of Normal

In this his fifth book Gabor Mate and his son Daniel explore the damage our Western ways of living are having on our health and wellbeing.  Arguing that in the Western world we tend to equate normality with health in this courageous compassionate book Dr Gabor Mate presents the case that given the unstoppable rise of mental health issues and the enormous prevalence of health problems and prescription medications, change in the way we live is needed imminently.  Connecting the dots between personal suffering and our way of life he argues that disease is a perfectly understandable bodily reaction to the way we are living in our abnormal culture, growing further and further from our true selves, and shows us the potential for reconnection and healing.
